HBU-UCLan Position: Course Leader / Senior Lecturer


Main achievements:

Joanne is an experienced teacher of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL ) in the higher education sector, with extensive international engagement.

 

As well as her current role at HBU-UCLan,  Joanne has held posts at Indonesia Australia Language Foundation (Indonesia), Durham University (UK), Northumbria University (UK),  University of Sunderland (UK), University of Melbourne (Australia), Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan) and Xi’an Institute of Technology (Shaanxi Province, China).

 

Joanne has a first degree (double major) from the University of Adelaide and several post-graduate qualifications from the University of South Australia, including an MA in Education and Graduate Diplomas in both Education and Information Studies (librarianship). Joanne is also a qualified IELTS Speaking examiner and TESOL MA dissertation supervisor.

 

Joanne has used her additional postgraduate qualifications in librarianship to work at the British Library in London (UK) and at Monash University (Malaysia) as a liaison librarian and postgraduate programs coordinator. In addition to her extensive teaching experience, Joanne has developed online content both for English language students and library clients.
