Judy is an experienced higher education professional and academic. As well as her role at HBU-UCLan, Judy has taught internationally at universities including, University of Hertfordshire in INTI (Laureate International Universities) Malaysia, Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) (New Zealand), Lincoln University (New Zealand), Centre of Languages, WINTEC (New Zealand), University of Bradford (UK).

 

Judy has a Masters in Teaching English as a Second Language and a Doctorate (PhD) from the University of Waikato (New Zealand) specialising in Applied Linguistics, academic writing, assessment and written feedback. Other postgraduate qualifications include, Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) and Access Certificate English Language Teaching (ACELT). Judy is an Associate Fellow of HEA (UK).

 

Judy has contributed chapters to edited books, journals and has presented papers at conferences in both Malaysia and New Zealand.

 

Judy has worked to develop course materials for EAP/ESP courses at universities in Malaysia and the UK. She continues to conduct qualitative and action education research in finding solutions to improve teaching and learning especially in the areas of teacher cognition, feedback in students’ written assignments where English is used as a medium of instruction in the higher education sector and research methods.
